The Okinawa LDP criticizes the prefecture’s governor for his work on the Okinawa Promotion budget. (25se21)

From 24 September, general questioning began at the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly. Among the topics the opposition party members questioned were the Tamaki prefectural response to the expected reduction in the government’s budget next year for Okinawa Promotion and Covid-19 strategy.  First to rise with a question was LDP Assembly member Shimabukuro. He pursued Governor Tamaki’s response on the reason, in the case of next year’s Okinawa Promotion budget, why the National Government budget request was cut to 300 billion yen, a level not seen since the budget of 2011. LDP Assembly Member Dai Shimabukuro argued, “Okinawa prefectural authorities could not explain to the Cabinet the need for 360 billion yen. To put it simply, Governor, you, as the leader of your prefectural government, failed in negotiations with the Cabinet!” In response, Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki countered that the Prefecture engaged in discussion after discussion based on the hoped for 360 billion.” He continued, ...
