Considering the next House of Representatives election, Morimasa Goya, chairman of the Kanehide Group (Okinawa) expressed his intention not to support the All Okinawa forces that are against the new base construction at Henoko in the city of Nago. While chatting with the press corps at the Prefectural Office on the morning of 15 September, Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki stated only, “I wonder if that doesn’t speak to Chairman Goya’s careful thought,” avoiding making an evaluation. In the morning editions on 15 September dealing with Kanehide’s leanings, the Okinawa Times led with “No support for All Okinawa” and the Ryukyu Shimpo with “Support to LDP candidate,” with the report contents somewhat different. The governor offered his opinion on the disparity, “Those are two ways of writing about it.
