Splendor of Okinawa: Globe Amaranth, roadside Uruma, 19jy23 On 19 July, Okinawa Prefecture Governor Denny Tamaki visited Nagasaki to hold his Talk Caravan on his thoughts on such issues as the U.S. bases in Okinawa. This was the governor’s first trip to Nagasaki since taking office. Governor Tamaki visited Nagasaki’s Peace Park at just past noon on 19july. After offering flowers, he quietly joined his hands in prayer. As this was Governor Tamaki’s first visit to Nagasaki since taking office as governor, it was also his first time to tour the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum. Governor Denny Tamaki stated, “A great many people had their lives stolen from them in that incredibly stupid act. Shall we continue to give such pain to all those who are left? For the very reason that Okinawa, Nagasaki, and Hiroshima have suffered much this same sort of pain, we all have a keen awareness of our obligation to get out and strongly proclaim our call for peace.” The governor intends to hold his Talk ...
