In dialog with Governor Tamaki, Gori relates his Covid-19 experience, “I felt death,” and pleads for countermeasures.

Gori, from the group Garage Sale, related his experience of hospitalizing himself for Covid-19 in an online dialog with Governor Denny Tamaki on 20 August. “The personal responsibility of getting infected didn’t stop with just me. The time and humanity of others got wrapped up in it, too,” he noted, calling for countermeasures against the contagion. 

He was hospitalized in April. Gori said, “I thought to myself, it probably won’t hit me and it won’t be a major illness.” When he understood he was diagnosed positive he admitted trembling with fear and thinking, “The guilt is upon me, What if I seriously infected those I’ve met and it becomes a matter of their lives.”

At first he was under home care, but when he was hospitalized as his health worsened, he revealed he was told by his doctor, “I’ve got medicine for the cough and fever, but no medicine to cure Covid-19. You’ll have to fight this with your own immune system.”

He explained that one week after the start of the infection, his cough became terrible. His breathing became difficult and, he explained, “I couldn’t suck in oxygen and I felt I was going to die. That extreme suffering lasted one long day. I also became psychologically unstable.” As for his close contacts and family members, he said, ”My children couldn’t go to school. ‘Papa, you’ll be okay,’ they told me, but I felt there was nothing I could say.” 

Governor Tamaki replied, “I hope young people will get vaccinated and properly informed while one by one pursuing their ordinary lives with things like avoiding crowds and wearing masks.”

Splendor of Okinawa: Temple Tree, Mihama Beach, 1de25 CEO Takeshi Kato of Japan Entertainment (JE), which manages JUNGLIA Okinawa, visited Governor Denny Tamaki at the Prefectural Office on 28 November.  　 The CEO reported on the 4 months since the attraction’s opening. He repeatedly brought up dealing with operational improvements and such based on the voices of visitors to the park.  　 The CEO specifically mentioned the evening concerts in the park’s garden and, starting from December, the free entry of one child with each adult, targeting the prefecture’s people. CEO Kato stated, “We’d like to be contributing to Okinawa’s tourism as well.” Governor Tamaki, alluding to his speech the same day, entitled “Declaration on Sustainable Tourism”, stated, “For the people, employees, and tourists of our prefecture, this is an important win-win format.
