Soseisha Educational Corporation, operator of the Sangosha Skole High School Division, has requested permission to establish  private junior high night schools. In connection with that, on 28 March the Prefectural Retired Teachers Association (chaired by Katsuhiko Nakamura) and the Prefectural High School Handicapped Children's School Retired Teachers Association (chaired by Miyoko Ajimine ) visited General Affairs Manager Tsutomu Miyagi at the Prefectural Office to make a request that permission for the junior high night schools be soon granted.

Manager Miyagi responded, “Again, we are confirming the point that there will be no alleged detriment to education in the business plan. Within the inspection panel there will be more discussions.” His answer showed that the plan was still under discussion in the Prefectural Private School Inspection Panel.

The request documentation stressed,  “Junior high night schools are essential so that those who have not finished compulsory education and want to rectify their education can study.” Permission for the establishment soon in 2023 was requested.

Last December, Governor Denny Tamaki visited the Ministry of Education. He requested a relaxation of the basic criteria for the establishment of private junior high night schools. Manager Miyagi stated, “We received a handwritten authorization from Education Ministry inspection officials noting that, as long as there is no impediment to education, we can apply the criteria flexibly.”

Chair of the High School Retired Teachers Ajimine added, “Education will be essential in order to realize Governor Tamaki’s goal of ‘A society that leaves nobody behind’.”

Denny in the News: news about Governor Denny Tamaki.

Denny Tamaki is the governor of Okinawa Prefecture in Japan. Although Okinawa is important as an international tourist destination and a key element in strategic US Military Forces, its governor receives very little coverage in the Japanese press and almost none in the English language media.

  1. This blog hopes to  translate one news article a day on the governor.  It is unsponsored and unauthorized. The translator simply hopes to improve his skills and perhaps give the governor an English speaking audience.

  2. Any suggestion on improving the translation will be gratefully accepted. However, please leave political comments for another forum.

  3. Where they occur, words and phrases in Ryukyuan (the Okinawan language) are rendered in italics and translated in parentheses. Names  whose readings are uncertain are rendered as Name (=Kanji?) as in Nagayuki (=長行?). Any corrections in such instances would be gratefully appreciated.
