Miss in records of Governor Denny Tamaki’s support group’s Report of Political Funds Accumulated in 2022. (26fe24)

Governor Denny Tamaki’s support group reported his political funds accumulated in 2022. However, it has been learned that there was also a miss in recording contributions from the prefectural chapter of the Social Democratic Party.

Both entities admit the error in the original documents. On 22 February, the Social Democratic Party submitted the correction to the Prefectural Election Commission. Governor Tamaki’s support group, after reviewing its report, submitted its correction on 26 February.

The prefectural chapter of the Social Democratic Party made 4 contributions between August and September of 2022, each contribution was 50 thousand yen, for a total of 200 thousand yen. The governor’s support group erred in the reporting of these contributions.

According to the Political Fund  Correction Law, in the case of a political contribution over 50 thousand yen from the same entity, the name of the entity must be recorded in the receiver’s report. Attributing the contribution to ‘other’, used for contributions under 50 thousand, is a misrepresentation. In this case, in the itemization, the contributions were included in the category of ‘other’.

Moreover, in Governor Tamaki’s support group’s report of 24 August 2022, 115,000 yen was contributed by the prefectural chapter of the Social Democratic Party. However, the prefectural chapter of the Social Democratic Party showed no such contribution. The SocialDemocratic Party claims that, when the report was made, there were no receipts at hand, and that led to the errors.

The Prefectural Election Commission has posted the reports publicly on its web-page.

Denny in the News: news about Governor Denny Tamaki.

Denny Tamaki is the governor of Okinawa Prefecture in Japan. Although Okinawa is important as an international tourist destination and a key element in strategic US Military Forces, its governor receives very little coverage in the Japanese press and almost none in the English language media.

This blog hopes to  translate one news article a day on the governor.  It is unsponsored and unauthorized. The translator simply hopes to improve his skills and perhaps give the governor an English speaking audience.

Any suggestion on improving my translation will be gratefully accepted. However, please leave political comments for another forum.

Where they occur, words and phrases in Ryukyuan (the Okinawan language) are rendered in italics and translated in parentheses. Names  whose readings are uncertain are rendered as Name (=Kanji?) as in Nagayuki (=長行?). Any corrections in such instances would be gratefully appreciated.
