On 22 March, Governor Denny Tamaki granted  certificates as Cool Boss to chiefs of sections rated ‘excellent’, a status achieved by targeting  overtime work reductions and  the number of leave days taken in the fiscal year, which the Okinawa Prefecture employees plan at the start of the year. Eight section chiefs were designated Cool Boss for 2023.

Governor Tamaki expected future progress as well in the work environment, stating, “The demands of government administration are complex and diverse. In the midst of it, the promotion of a work-life balance for our employees has become a necessity to respond appropriately to such pressures.”

The 8 chiefs (actual titles omitted) designated Cool Boss are:

Hiroaki Higa (General Affairs Division, Miyako Office, General Affairs Department)

Masashi Hirata (Tokyo Office, same Department)

Tomohiro Taira (Koza Prefectural Tax Office, same Department)

Katsuya Kinjo (Children's Welfare Department, Weighing Certification Laboratory)

Tsutomu Ujihara (Livestock Health and Hygiene Division, Miyako Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Promotion Center, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries)

Mitsue Kawa (Forest Resources Research Center, Ministry);

Shinobu Oshiro (Southern Agricultural Improvement and Extension Center, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries);

Hideaki Okuno (Urasoe Vocational Ability Development, Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labor) school)

Denny in the News: news about Governor Denny Tamaki.

Denny Tamaki is the governor of Okinawa Prefecture in Japan. Although Okinawa is important as an international tourist destination and a key element in strategic US Military Forces, its governor receives very little coverage in the Japanese press and almost none in the English language media.

This blog hopes to  translate one news article a day on the governor.  It is unsponsored and unauthorized. The translator simply hopes to improve his skills and perhaps give the governor an English speaking audience.

Any suggestion on improving my translation will be gratefully accepted. However, please leave political comments for another forum.

Where they occur, words and phrases in Ryukyuan (the Okinawan language) are rendered in italics and translated in parentheses. Names  whose readings are uncertain are rendered as Name (=Kanji?) as in Nagayuki (=長行?). Any corrections in such instances would be gratefully appreciated.
